This month I was super excited to receive the Planner Nerd Brights stickers as my D.T. package, as I will be off to Cambs Planner Con in a few short weeks! So I already had the matching stickers that came with my ticket to the event, and now had loads of Planner Nerd stickers to use!

I started by decorating the week of Cambs Planner Con in my personal size planner – I rarely decorate in advance so it felt a little weird but I really like how it turned out.

I did, admittedly, add stickers from my planner con kit, but it’s mostly stickers from this month’s club. There will be a Plan With Video published on my YouTube channel for this, but it won’t be until Sunday 15th (so it’s ready for the relevant week!), so keep an eye out for that 🙂

Close Ups!

After this I still had plenty of stickers left over, and at first I was a little stumped at how to use them. The obvious way to use them would be journaling (or other forms of memory keeping) Planner Con, but I couldn’t do that before the event! So I had an idea – decorate a little notebook to pass around at planner con, asking people to sign it, and have that to keep as a memento of the day.

Brimbles Sticker Club March: Hop to It – Planner Spreads

Hello everyone! Happy March! It didn’t exactly feel very spring like at the beginning of the month did it? (particularly for those of us in the UK). But Spring is starting to show itself now, which makes me very happy 😀

For this month’s stickers I decided to do two planner spreads, both are for this current week (12-18 March). The first is my usual in my personal size planner, with Mini Happy Planner inserts.

There is a Plan With Me video for this spread if you’d like to see it. I didn’t do anything too fancy for this layout either, the stickers did the work for me. The pink washi up the inner sides of each page is from the Brimbles shop, and you can buy it/have a closer look by clicking here.

Then for my second planner spread I decorated inserts in my A5 planner. In this planner I have the 2018 Daphne’s Diary planner punched in, and because each week is different and all pages have pretty pictures and patterns, I don’t often bother to decorate, or if I do it’s very minimal. However, I noticed the theme for this week would match the Hop to It Sticker Kit almost perfectly, as it’s both Spring-y and also a bit reminiscent of a pretty pond filled with lily pads.

I don’t have a video for this one, so I’ve taken a few pictures for you to get a good look. I’ve done the picture’s ‘before the pen’, as I often put a lot of health related things in this planner.

These inserts/planner come with a mini tear out insert each week with a space for a shopping and a to-do list, so of course I decorated that too:

The little frog sat on a rock, pondering away, is my favourite sticker from this month’s kit. He just looks so happy and lost in thought. I wonder what he’s thinking about!

Brimbles Sticker Club December – My Dear You Sparkle

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Well… almost!

I love this month’s sparkly and wintery sticker kit. In the unlikely event that you haven’t seen this month’s Sticker Club, I have a video showing the sheets which you can watch here.

With this month’s stickers I decided to create a double page spread in my planner that was all about the New Year. Something I can fill in with goals for the year, and something I can refer back to throughout 2018.

The pages are just plain A4 paper, cut in half and then punched into my planner. On the left page I’ve used some of the full box stickers, and the big gold sparkly ‘This Year’ sticker, as well as used the ‘New Year, New Beginnings’, ‘Page 1 of 365’, and ‘Hello 2018’ phrase stickers. Then I measured out twelve lines and wrote in the months.

At the end of each month I’m going to go back to this page and write in something I achieved that month, or something new that I’ve tried. To encourage me to focus on positive things and keep track of achievements, no matter how small they may seem.

The page on the right is for my goals. I layered washi tape and the washi strips from the kit, and added the ‘2018’ box sticker (which I trimmed down), and the large ‘goals’ sticker at the bottom. Then another box and a phrase sticker – I love to see positive quotes and sentiments all over the place!

I then put in all the gorgeous decorative woodland creatures, and around them doodled four different ‘boxes’. In each of these I will write a goal for the year. I also added some arrows and circles from the functional sticker sheet. I may add some ‘small’ goals in the two large circle stickers too.

The washi tape I used you can find in the Brimbles store; black washi with gold triangles, and the gold glitter washi.

After creating that main project I had plenty of stickers left, so I decorated the first week of the year in my personal size planner.

I’ve changed my personal inserts for 2018, so it was the first time in over a year I’ve decorated Week on Two Pages inserts! I’ve decided I don’t like Filofax’s blue text for the days of the week, so I used the blank header stickers to cover those up and wrote the day and date underneath instead! Here are some close ups:

Brimbles Sticker Club Projects: November

It’s Christmaaaaaas!

Well… almost. As I write this it actually isn’t even Halloween yet, but I’m trying to be super prepared this year. My birthday is in mid December and my goal is to get everything Christmas card and gift related completey sorted by then so I can really enjoy the season. And some Christmassy Brimbles stickers have helped me on my way to that goal!

I started out doing something a bit different, as I fancied trying something new with the stickers. And so I made some gift tags!

I made the tags on my silhouette machine with some standard Christmas cardstock, but they’re very simple shapes it would be very easy to draw and cut them or use a die cut machine. The cardstock needed to be something simple so the pattern wouldn’t take attention away from the stickers. I cut up the washi strips, as well as some red and green glittery washi I had in my stash, and layered them at the bottom or sides of the tags, then added the cute mice from the decorative sheet as the main elements.

Then looped either some Christmas ribbon or washi through the top of the tag and they were done! A really simple craft but I think quite effective. The tags are super cute and will look great either on gifts or in the pockets of my Christmas planner. I could also use them in happy mail, as bookmarks, and even as decorations.

Next was my usual sticker project, which was to decorate a week in my personal size planner.

There was quite a lot of layering and sticker clustering involved in this spread – one of my favourite things to do! Here are some close ups:

With some of the remaining stickers I decorated some pages in my Christmas planner, just to add a bit of fun to some otherwise plain pages.

With the remaining checklist and other functional stickers, I’ll be using them in my Christmas planner as and when needed to make to do lists, shopping lists, or highlight important things.

Oh, and speaking of my Christmas planner. The set up video and corresponding blog post will be published within the next few days, and the blog post may involve some free printables 😉

This month’s kit has certainly made me feel way more Christmassy than I usually do two months before the event, I hope my projects have given you some ideas and inspiration. Thanks so much for reading!

November Brimbles Sticker Club: ‘Not a Creature Was Stirring’

It’s Brimbles Sticker Club Time! (and check out the cute new postcard!)

This month’s Club is called ‘Not a Creature was Stirring’, and is a Christmas themed kit featuring lots of cute little Christmas mice.

Let’s look at the each sheet in detail…

First is the decorative sheet, featuring the mice themselves. As always, the sticker club is created with Anna’s original artwork, and the decorative sheet often showcases her talent the best.

The mice are called Winston, Cecil, Frankie, Gordon & Horatio. I’ll admit I don’t know yet which one is which, but I can tell you that Cecil is the one with the wrapped gift in his paws, and Winston is the one with the candy cane.

I think my favourite is the little guy who is wrapped up all snug and warm – I feel you little guy, I’m feeling the cold already and it’s still October! I’m also fond of the mouse with his Christmas lights all in a tangle, as I sympathise strongly with his plight. Every year you wrap up the lights nicely before they go into storage, and then every year when you bring them out again they are in impossible knots – how does this happen? It’s like headphone/ear bud wires but 100x times worse! As such, I very much appreciate his worried little face!

Anyhoo, here are some close ups of the mice:

Ok next is the washi sheet, which has four wider strips, and three slim strips in co-coordinating colours. I’m particularly loving that holly, it’s such a lovely green colour. Also the mini Winstons of course, so cute!

Sheet three is the functional sheet, in classic Christmas red and green.

Although I always love and use the functional stickers, my favourite part of this sheet is the little phrase at the bottom:

I just love the way the font makes it look like it’s been made with a label maker!

The last sheet is the one that mixes both decorative and functional planning. There’s four ‘full boxes’ – the ‘making a list’ one is a great idea! There’s three ‘half boxes’, then beautiful holly wreath, which you could use in a purely decorative way, or write something in the middle of it to highlight that task or event.

As ever are the functional headers, with six blank ones that you could add your own heading to, or just use to fill up some space. And last is the handful of Christmas words and phrases – useful for both planning and journalling!

Brimbles Sticker Club Projects – September

It’s September! Yaaaaaaaaaaaaay!

I love autumn so so much. And the colours and florals of this month’s sticker club are the perfect transition from summer to autumn. Like last month, I decided to do a variety of projects with my stickers, instead of one ‘big’ one.

First was a planner spread. So far I’ve used my sticker club stickers to decorate my personal size, but I decided it was time to change things up a bit and so decorated my A5. I don’t use any particular inserts in my A5 – just dot grid paper, meaning I can change the layout every single week – and this is how it looked with the September Garden stickers:

Now usually I would show you how it looked at the end of the week too – but due to the timing of this post it’s not all filled in yet! But if you’re interested there’ll be pictures of my spread on my instagram (which is linked at the top of this page under my logo). There is also a Plan With me video which you can watch here if you’d like.

My next project is also planner related. I used another of my dot grid pages to create a bullet journal-esque month at a glance.

My favourite part of this page is the page flags in the top right corner which I doodled on to make them into a banner.

It’s such a simple but effective little technique (for which I can claim no originality whatsoever, I’ve seen it many times on instagram!).

My last project was this bookmark:

It was really simple to make, I just took some white card and cut it to size. I found a quote about reading online and wrote it on the card in pencil. Then I put the stickers down, and then went over the pencil with a .38 black gel pen. For the top I simply used a hole punch for the hole and threaded some ribbon through it. I actually wanted to use black ribbon but turns out that I don’t have any! So I went with pink organza instead.

And yeah, ok, I admit it, I am not currently reading Jane Austen’s Emma (although I have many times!). But my current book is too big and boofy and wouldn’t lay flat for a picture! (Just in case you were wondering, it’s CS Lewis’ Cosmic Trilogy in one volume that wouldn’t behave for a photo).

Bookmark update: do not leave where your cat (or other curious creature) can find it, for the cat will find the ribbon tassel irresistible to chew on, pulling the bookmark out of your book and you will lose your place!

And there we go! I still have a few stickers left, some may end up on my planner pages towards the end of the week to fill in any gaps, and the rest will probably end up in my journal for light decoration. Thanks so much for reading and I hope you have a great September!

Brimbles Sticker Club – September Garden

Just a quick post today to share some pictures of this month’s Brimbles Sticker Club. This month is called ‘September Garden’ and is filled with beautiful florals in lovely, muted, autumnal colours.

First is the decorative sheet:

Just so very pretty! I love floral decorative stickers. I have to admit black florals aren’t something I’ve ever thought about much but these really are gorgeous. Just as an FYI, the stems on these florals can be a bit tricky and delicate so it’s a good idea to use tweezers on those!

Then the washi sheet:

Washi strips are so versatile so I love getting them in the sticker club. You can use the whole strip, cut it up for various purposes – I’ve even fussy cut the images on them before for more decorative stickers!

Then the planner (or planner-esque) sheet:

With six full boxes, three of which have space to write on if you wanted to, or just keep them with the simple decoration. Then three half boxes, with just a coloured border so you could write inside them to highlight important events. Then the headers; the blank ones are always my favourite as I like to write in my own headers. Also black stickers this month means I get to write in white pen, yay!

Lastly is the functional sheet.

There are more icons on here than usual, which is super helpful as I certainly use more than one laundry or shopping icon a week!

My favourite addition to the sheet this month are those three little off centre circles, they’re so unusual and funky!

So there’s the September Brimbles Sticker Club! The colours of this kit really scream Autumn, but in such a unique way, rather than the traditional brown and orange palette. It especially reminds me of that transition between summer and Autumn when the nights draw in and the temperature starts to drop (or as in the case of today, has rained for the past 36 hours!).

Brimbles Sticker Club Projects – August

As a cat person, who also loves florals, this kit was pretty much perfect for me. So I wanted to create quite a few projects with it.
The first was a ‘scrashbook’ page, one of my (many!) forms of creative journaling that incorporates styles of scrapbooking, smashbooking, art, and creative journaling. I chose some photos of my cat, Conan, in the garden and journalled about how much he loves to be outside.

I used this paper from the Brimbles shop for my background, as well as a journaling card from a cat kit which is sadly no longer available.
I added colour to the page by dabbing some pink acrylic paint on with a foam brush, then I journalled on the back of the card and attached it to the page with some paw print washi. Then it was sticker time! Here are some close ups:

I just LOVE layering stickers in little clusters! Here is the finished layout, there is also a process video for this if you’d like to watch.

As for my other projects, I did a planner spread, of which you can watch the plan with me video here

Then I created a page marker for my planner. I did use my silhouette cutting machine to make the page marker, which I appreciate not everyone has, but you could easily make something like this on your computer and fussy cut it, or simply attach alpha stickers to the top of some card and laminate it.

And my last little project, because I only had one decorative floral sticker left, was to make a mini divider/tip in for my planner for the section where I keep track of my cat’s important details and information.

On this one I dabbed some black ink (just using my fingertips) onto on of the cat stickers so they’d contrast.

And that’s it! And after all that I still have a handful of stickers left to use! If you’d like to read my original post on the Brimbles Blog you can find that here. Brimbles July Sticker Club – Smoothie

Woop woop! My first post as a Brimbles Sticker Club design team member. This post is also featured on the brimbles blog.

Alright, I admit, I’m not so good at eating fruit, but I do like a smoothie. So when I saw this month’s kit I remembered some silly selfies I had on my phone I’d sent in a group chat after making myself a smoothie one day. I decided this month’s kit would be perfect for making a fun creative journal spread, featuring said silly selfies.

The first thing I did was throw some watercolour on the pages (of a standard size traveller’s notebook). I had the stickers nearby so I could make sure the colours matched. I made one side more green because I knew that’s where I was going to put the photos, which had lots of green in the background.

While I waited for that to dry, I got out my Copic markers and fineliners and drew out and then coloured a glass full of smoothie. I’m fairly happy with how it turned out:

(for Copic Marker users I used R00, RV10, RV13, and R85)

Then I painted the ’empty’ part of the glass with the same colours I’d painted the right hand page, went over the lines with a black fineliner, and cut it out:

Then came sticking time! I started with some of the washi strips and boxes from the kit that I wanted in the background:

Then stuck down my photos and the glass:

Next was my favourite part of the whole layout. I started by getting the watercolours out again and painting a pink swirl going down into the glass:

(yes I smudged the black fineliner a bit but it’s ok because it gets covered up!)

Then once that was dry I stuck down a load of the cute little fruit stickers on the swirl as if they were going down into the smoothie (sorry little fruits!)

As you can see I purposely placed one sticker (the apple) where I could draw the rim of the glass over it, to really give the idea that they were going down into the glass of delicious smoothie!

After that I got sticker happy…

Especially with those little phrase stickers. I LOVE a good pun, so those cracked me up far more than they really should have. The only stickers used that are not from this month’s kit are those I used for the ‘smoothie’ title. They were from Mrs Brimbles last year.

Then I got a little more sticker happy, just filling up some spaces that I thought looked like they needed a little something more. I even fussy cut out a little orange from the washi strip as a wanted a little fruit!

Spot the little orange? Just a reminder to do whatever you want with stickers, cut boxes in half, fussy cut them, etc.,: they’re just as versatile as paper, but you don’t have to add glue! I also used the page flags from the functional sheet of stickers to make some bunting in the top corner.

And there we go! An admittedly, very silly journal spread, that was great fun to make. It’s not about anything important or life changing, but it’s a fun memory to look at.

Brimbles Box – June 2017 – and some news!

Hello Paper Lovers! So, my first blog post (sort of) is a last. The last Brimbles Box that is.

I’ll talk more about that at the end of this post; for now, let’s look at what was inside this box.

The first items I pulled out, as ever, were the 12×12 papers. This box had two double sided papers, and one cut apart. Here are the double sided:

I just love the blue watercolour on these, it’s absolutely stunning. I’ve almost always had trouble deciding which sides of the papers to use with the Brimbles Box, and even though there’s two provided so you don’t have to decide, I still struggle! I think the white side with the waves would be perfect for a sea themed scrapbook page. The blue side with the white dots would make a lovely cover for a travellers’ notebook insert, but also a great sea-themed birthday card. Ahhhhh decisions decisions.

Next is the cut apart:

My goodness I love this. The mix of the watercolour, the images of the mermaid and jellyfish, and the photos of the shoreline and the lighthouse are just so up my street. So much so I may have to purchase another from the Brimbles store while they’re still in stock!

Next is the postcard and sticky notes

The sticky notes I’ll use these in my journal mostly, or to decorate happy mail. The larger one with the purple watercolour would look really nice on the front of an envelope with the recipient’s address written on it. Sticky notes like this I tend to think of as ‘partially pre-glued ephemera’; and I’m pretty sure I’ll be fussy cutting that mermaid out a fair few times. She’s too pretty to hide out in the black hole that is my sticky note drawer.

It may take me a while to use that postcard, however. Not because I don’t like it, quite the opposite actually. It’s just too pretty and it’s the last one and I just need to hoard it for a while before I’m emotionally ready to use it (stationery is very serious, people).

Ok, what’s next….ooh stickers, yay!

Mermaid stickers, woop woop.

Ok first is the ‘planner’ stickers. For me these stickers sheets are darn well near perfect to decorate my personal size inserts. I love the little arrows so much, always have. They’re so handy for pointing out and drawing attention to the reeeeaaally important stuff you have to get done that week.

The decorative stickers are just…drool.

Mermaids are my favourite fantasy creature. Well, other than dragons, and Tolkien’s Dwarves, and dæmons from His Dark Materials…

Ok, Mermaids are one of my top five fantasy creatures. But they also mean the sea and I LOVE the sea. So yes, point being. These stickers are lush.

I’ve been a fan of Anna’s artwork since forever, but that mermaid (and the little crab dude!) is one of my favourite things she’s ever done. I think it’s the way Anna painted the hair and tails that is just so very beautiful. (Fun fact, I had blue hair for a time when I was way cooler than I am now).

Anyhoo, time for the last two items…

The ephemera matches the stickers, and is as equally beautiful (note to self: must not hoard, must use!)

Then we have the ‘mermaid treats’ bag. Which is very, very pretty. I am just loving the turquoise sparkly mermaid. I will not be using it for stationery or craft related reasons, however (sorry). I’ve decided to be hilariously ironic and use the bag for my ‘on the go’ pill case (because it says ‘treat’, geddit?!). I take a lot of tablets, and I have to have a supply in my handbag for when I’m out and about. I’ve been using the current ‘meds bag’ (a very cute cat pencil case) for a few months now, so I figure I’m allowed to change it up. Plus, did I mention the turquoise glitter? Of course I need to see that every day!

So there we are, the June, and the very last, Brimbles Box. It certainly went out with a bang!

Though I completely understand Anna’s reasons, I’m still a little sad that it’s over. I got my first box in November 2015, so for over 18 months I’ve had the beautiful contents of a Brimbles Box to play with.

HOWEVER

The monthly sticker club is still running, woohoo. So you’ll still be able to get pretty stickers made from Anna’s original art work plus other matching stickers. YAYS.

Oh, also, yours truly is on the Sticker Club Design Team.
